Meet The Landings of Westerville's Director of Maintenance
June 15, 2022
Born and raised in Marengo Ohio, Joel has joined Foundations and The Landings for his first year of a life-changing new career in healthcare! Prior to working with nursing facilities, Joel built over 20 years of experience as an HVAC technician. These decades as a technician have honed Joel’s vast range of skills in construction, maintenance, and repair, which puts our state-of-the-art facility in very good hands.
While his decades as a technician brought him many skills and experiences, Joel recently discovered within himself that he was looking for that special passion that felt was missing from his day-to-day work. He is grateful to have found the opportunity to merge his work with his passion for people with a new career in skilled nursing, where he cares for both the facility and the residents who call it home.
Joel Meyers - Director of Maintenance Joel loves spending time with residents in any way that he can, and the Culture of Care in which we work here at The Landings is exactly what he was looking for in a calling that gives him purpose and passion each day. Joel’s energy and humor light up the halls at The Landings, and he can often be found serenading his residents and team with piano music or his singing voice that rivals a country music star’s. Karaoke activity sessions level up when Joel is around!
Joel is looking forward to getting to know even more residents as our family grows, and he is passionate about the excellence that we create for our residents when each of us cares deeply about what we do each day. Joel never had grandparents growing up, so his favorite part of work is getting to know each resident and taking care of their needs as if they are parents and grandparents to him. He leads by example with positivity, work ethic, and commitment to doing the best he can for his building and his residents each day.
Joel’s love for his newfound life in this work inspires everyone around him to remember their passion and their “why”. Joel’s handy skills also encompass more than just facility maintenance and repair – in his free time, he is an experienced digital camera designer who has engineered his own line of night vision cameras and accessories! Running his night-vision camera business, ghostsite.com, and working to create new camera modifications is one of his favorite ways to spend free time. His other favorite things include his wife and children, practicing photography, country music, and coaching youth baseball.
